According to HBO's Mark Taffet, the fight that took place on December 8th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. it generated an amazing 850,000 domestic buys, which raked in $47 million dollars in TV revenue.
Mark Taffet stated: " Mayweather-Hatton was one of boxings most memorable nights in the past decade and was a perfect ending to a resurgent year for the sport."
"In becoming the highest grossing PPV fight ever in which neither a heavyweight nor Latino star was featured. According to Taffet this was a record breaking year for HBO PPV .
With eight boxing events this year selling 4.8 million buys and generated $255 million, shattering the old record that stands from 1999, which generated 4 million buys generating $200 million.
