This past weekend Joe Clazghe was presented with the BBC "Sports Personality of the Year" award he was also in attendance to support fellow British fighter Rick Hatton. Over the past several months Calzaghe and Hopkins have been jawing off at each other through the media. In 2003 the two were to meet in fight. Hopkins demanded $3million to fight Calzaghe. Frank Warren Calzaghe's promoter agreed then the very next day, Hopkins came back and demanded double the money. He priced himself out of the fight.
The two saw each other and began to jaw off at each other, suddenly they were face-to-face and a brawl almost erupted. They were about to skip the negotiation process and were ready to go right on the spot. both of the fighter want the fight, the fans want it and HBO wants it. Calzaghe stated " coming face-to-face with Hopkins made me want the fight even more. He can talk a good fight but he cant beat me."
"I'll go to America and take the fight no problem at all. Bernard's a great fighter but, he's not as good as me."
